New World: Aeternum Wraps Up Open Beta — Here’s What Went Down – MMOs.com

New World: Aeternum’s open beta concluded earlier this week, and while we didn’t get player count specifics, Amazon Game Studios has shared plenty of juicy stats to hold us over until the full launch on October 15th.
The most notable stat? Not a single player managed to take down the monstrous Sandwurm in Brimstone Sands. That’s right—168 brave (or reckless) souls attempted to slay the beast, and all 168 perished. Better luck next time, folks.
Amazon’s recap also highlighted some other key stats from the beta. Swordbearers reigned supreme as the most popular archetype, though ironically, the Bow was the most frequently used weapon. Who knew sword-swinging warriors were also crack shots? Close contenders were the standard sword, fire staff, and the mighty great sword.
Players certainly kept busy during the beta, collectively completing over 10 million quests and slaying a whopping 39.6 million enemies. Out of those foes, Medea claimed the title of the deadliest, though Amazon left us wondering just how many adventurers met their doom at her hands.
For those eager to dive back in, New World: Aeternum promises some major changes. The upcoming launch on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and the upgraded PC version brings with it action-oriented combat, cinematic storytelling, and a renewed focus on solo play. It’s a fresh take on the New World experience, especially for console players jumping in for the first time.
October 15th can’t come soon enough, and for those who participated in the beta, Amazon has confirmed that rewards for your efforts will arrive on launch day.
