After a journey brimming with adventure, exploration, and countless Tem battles, Temtem has finally reached the end of its development journey with Patch 1.8. The controversial final major update for the creature-collecting MMO, is now live, bringing a host of changes that aim to polish the game for the last time and make the gameplay experience more enjoyable for all as it officially enters maintenance mode.

Patch 1.8 increased encounter rates for rare Tems, making it easier to catch some of the more elusive ones that you’ve yet to add to your collection. Ranked seasons have also been revamped, offering more balanced competition and fresh challenges for competitive players. A new trading feature has also been introduced, allowing players to trade Tems with friends, a long-awaited addition that fans will undoubtedly appreciate and hopefully soften the blow of Crema’s decision to halt active development on the barely two-year-old MMO.

One of the more noteworthy additions included in the update is the new progression system. Players can now earn perk points to customize their characters and enhance their abilities, adding a new layer of strategy to the game. Quality-of-life improvements are also on the menu, including the option to skip combat animations for faster battles and a feature that lets players see when their Tems are about to evolve.

Despite Temtem reaching its final chapter, developer Crema assures fans that this isn’t the end of their journey. The studio hinted at future projects, including a possible Temtem sequel and a mysterious new game codenamed “Project Downbelow.”

The studio also took the opportunity to reflect on their journey and thank the dedicated community that has supported Temtem from the start.

“We’ve reached our original goals for Temtem, fulfilled – even surpassed! – our planned roster of Tems and islands, and saw this game become bigger and greater than any of us could have ever dreamed of,” the studio said. “We hope you like patch 1.8, and that it makes Temtem nicer to play, replay and return to.”
